Process and Mechanism of Sealing 65 vol.% SiCp/ZL102 Composite and DM305 Electronic Glass with Borosilicate Glass

SiC-particulate-reinforced aluminum matrix composites (SiCp/Al MMCs) are widely used in the aerospace field due to their high specific stiffness and strength, low thermal expansion coefficient, good radiation resistance. In process of application promotion, there is a connection problem between electronic glass. this work, lead-free SiO2-B2O3-Na2O glass filler was seal 65 vol.% SiCp/ZL102 DM305 an atmospheric environment. The effects sealing temperature on properties joints were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Additionally, causes defects fracture mechanisms analyzed. results showed that base material connected through dual mechanism Al, Na, Si, O element diffusion reaction mechanical occlusion. At 540 °C holding time 30 min, joint interface dense crack-free. Meanwhile, average shear strength reached 13.0 MPa, leakage rate air tightness 1 × 10−9 Pa·m3/s. brittle features revealed step-like morphology fracture, which originated from brazing seam propagated into pore. crack gradually both sides as area expanded, ultimately resulting fracture.
